Notifications on proposals etc

Millerston G33 is located on the border between Glasgow City Council and North Lanarkshire Council.  it is also split between 5 Community Councils.

Each entity is only looking after it’s own agenda and in turn things happen without knowledge of the Community.

Currently there is development proposals from the Glasgow side which do not incorporate any stratagy for reprocussion impacts on the Community’s infrastructure within North Lanarkshire.

Consideration should be taken to include provisions regarding considering these impacts, even though the development is not adjacent to the site.

Further consideration should be made regarding the impact on the wildlife.  Currently ALL of the Stepps Greenbelt has several proposals for development submitted.  Furthermore, Glasgow City Council have several proposals submitted to also build on the Stepps Greenbelt, in an area they have designated an Area of Natural Significance; this is known as the Millerston Wetland.

The ENTIRE greenbelt is at risk North and South of the M80 at Stepps/ Millerston.

Within this area of Greenbelt and Wetland, are numerous Deer, Fox, Squirrel, Woodpecker, Kestral, Buzzard, Goosander, Drake, Heron, Stonechat, Jay, Ground and reed nesting birds, Dragonfly and Mayfly species and various Fungi.  The area is a Mecca for Nature and already designated Greenbelt.  Any proposals should not be submitted.

Consideration needs to be made into forbidding any building on Greenbelt and make further protections on retaining the Greenbelt and natural habitat of all species.

Why the contribution is important

These ideas are extremely important in order to protect the natural habitats of all animals and natural species within the Greenbelt.

There is no point in designating areas Wetland, areas of natural significance and Greenbelt if it means nothing.
