About young people and planning

My mum got me to read this, as I have been involved in planning stuff in our area

Reading this I was surprised and angery, as a lot of young people I know have good ideas about what they would like to see where they live but they dont know how to submit their ideas.

I only got involved because my parents where involved and I wanted to help, I have writen responces and made a deputaition that for the most part was ignored by the councillors because the planners told them the compleat opposite.

I got an e-mail about my responce to the planning bill because I am 14, I needed a parents permission. What if I hadent mentioned I was 14? Did you actually ask any young people for their views?

Why the contribution is important

Because I seem to be the only young person who has responded to this! :)

I think young people should be actively encouraged to participate in consultations especially since most will affect them in the future. It may also help them become more involved in local democracy and decision making which I think is really important as future custodians.
