In your community

Youth organisaitons and charities based in the community who organise clubs and activities for young people in the community.

Why the contribution is important

It is where young people come together and a professional will be involved in organising and facilitating these activities. These activities are very local to the young person and the professionals involved will support and provide links into specialist support services if/when required. Peer support is also part of commuinty based clubs and activities.

In my community it's difficult to know what support is available as it isn't really signposted. I only found out about counselling in my area from the gp i had no idea the service existed or provided this type of support. There is sometimes notice boards in different places within the community but the only issue with that is that they are never kept updated so there is the risk of miscommunication. Also activities within the area they aren't always advertised well. It would be good to look into more social media approaches or creating a wellbeing services guide.
